CIMRM 73 - Mithraeum at Qasr ibn Wardan? (Seriane?), Syria

Seriane is Isrieh, or Esriye or Esrije.1

Franz Cumont in Syria 1933, 382 n. 22 gives a note regarding the doubtful existence of a Mithraeum at Quasr-ibn-Wardân (Seriane?): "A propos de la fondation du chateau de Quasr-ibn-Wardan les Bedouins racontent une legende de laquelle Nöldeke a conclu que c'était un fort du limes et qu'il s'y trouvait un Mithraeum (cf. Littmann, Ruinenstätten Syriens, 16), mais cette interpretation est tres douteuse" (cf. Honigmann in PW s.v. Syria col. 1579; 1560).
