1634 : RIGALTIUS : Paris : N. Rigault (Rigaltius) This isn't just a reprint of the Pamelius, but rather really a new edition. The first real editor to look at all the material we now have and try to make sense of it. Had access to various collations and tabulated what he used for which work. Checked
Other copies listed; Oxford Colleges: Corpus, Christ Church, Christ Church (A), Oriel, Queens, Trinity, University
Rigaltius used a collation of a now lost manuscript from Dijon, the Divionensis. He also used a 'Liber Vrsini' belonging to Fulvio Orsini. This must likewise have been notes of readings, rather than a manuscript. Fascinatingly, for De pudicitia he refers also to a Remensis, otherwise unknown.
The copy I examined belongs to Norwich Cathedral. Size 342mm x 224 mm. No text on the spine, bound in leather, 6 bind points on the spine. Crimson all edges. I hope to have some pictures of pages online in due course.
The first 11 leaves are as follows.
Folio | Note |
1 | End leaf. Blank both sides |
2 | Title leaf. In black in centre:
Q. SEPT. FLORENTIS Verso blank. |
3 | Black and red title page.
Image online.
Verso has Norwich Cathedral crest. Otherwise blank. |
4 | Letter to Cardinal Richeliu, dated 1629. Continues verso. |
5 | Continues recto and verso. |
6 | Continues and ends on recto.
Verso begins LECTORI. Introduction in italics. |
7 | Continues + verso. |
8 | Continues + verso. Verso ends with imprimatur from Sorbonne. |
9 | Veterum Scriptorum testimonia quaedam de Tertulliano. i.e. quotes about Tertullian and his works from antiquity. Continues verso. |

11 | SERIES TERTVLLIANI OPERVM quae hac volumine continetur. Item ex quibus quaeque sint codicibus notabiliter emendata. i.e. list of contents and manuscripts used. Continues verso. |
The 12th leaf begins the text, and also the page numbers. A new work sometimes means a new page, but by no means always. Titles of works are not copied from the original. Works are printed across the page in a single column with no footnotes.

After this Rigaltius placed his notes. These refer to the manuscripts (or collations of manuscripts) he used. I have noted at least one place in each work where he refers to the reading given in a given manuscript. Unfortunately I did not begin noting this until p.41.
