Photographs ---- Catalogue ---- Other details ---- About the library
This 15th century manuscript is not mentioned in any of the editions, and came to my attention from the Hill Monastic Manuscript Library site (see catalogue entry below).
It contains 2 works; Lactantius, Divine Institutes, followed by the Apologeticum. Most of the pages are paper, but a couple are parchment. On three pages the blank margin has been removed, but the text is intact, just. The first folio of the Tertullian has a '(233)' on it, but the other folio numbers start from 238 and continue thus.

ABOUT THE SEITENSTETTENSTIFT AND ACCESS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY
The abbey dominates the little town of Seitenstetten, and is obvious as soon as you enter the town. It is around 125 miles from Salzburg. From Salzburg airport (car hire by Hertz was cheapest) there is direct access onto the A1 autobahn and travel east until you reach the Haag turnoff. From there stay on the road south until you reach the Steyr-Seitenstetten road east-west (both are signposted). Turn left, and continue until you reach Seitenstetten. The abbey is the huge building with the spire immediately visible as you come into the town. The journey is around 2 hours, because of all the roadworks on the autobahn. You can park outside the abbey. The abbey also incorporates a school, and so has an administration office (Wirtschaftskanzlei) signposted from the main entrance-way, where English is spoken. Visitors wishing to consult a manuscript or photograph should email the abbey first and obtain permission. The abbey website contains contact details, and they are all very nice people there.
While it is possible in theory to day-trip to Seitenstetten from the UK via Stansted airport and Ryanair, as I did, I would next time arrange to stay overnight unless you feel comfortable with getting up at 3am, getting back at midnight, flying for 3 hours, driving 250 miles in Austria, plus 140 miles in the UK (in my case) to get to Stansted, all in one day. This is very taxing, and puts a lot of pressure on you. The area is lovely, and Seitenstetten would repay investigation.
