Translation of Didymus the Blind’s commentary on Job from the Tura papyri

Quite by chance I stumbled across a PhD thesis from 2000 here (PDF). Title: The Tura papyrus of Didymus the Blind’s Commentary on Job: an original translation with commentary, by Edward Duffy.  I don’t think it is a complete translation of the whole text, but at least it exists and is accessible.

  1. Hate to say this, but could you stumble more often?? – on gems like this! Thanks!
May bump into you in C.C.

  2. I have today heard from Dr Duffy, who is now an academic, and he tells me that he is continuing to work on the translation and hopes to have it published when complete.

    This is very good news!

  3. Hi- It looks like this link is down. Too bad because I was hoping to download this! Any chance you know where I might be able to get this now? Thanks.

  4. All the theses seem to have vanished. The Online Thesis Library page continues to exist here, but without any PDF’s.

I have written and enquired what has happened. I’ve also asked to be put in contact with Dr Duffy; perhaps we can host a copy here, if he is willing.

  5. None of these links work anymore! Does anyone have a PDF or new link??

  6. Thank you! Now if only I could find translations for his On the Trinity, Against the Manichees, and the Commentaries on the Catholic Epistles and all his Psalms.
