  1. Roger, I am sorry for your medical condition, but who could be surprised? If I could do something, I would. Please respond to my email. I am a historian of Christian violence, and you are truly a model of scholarly generosity and congeniality.

  2. I wish I could just unplug my hand and fit a new one, as with a keyboard. It’s curious that I spent 40 years working professionally at a keyboard, with just one period of minor RSI in my left forearm, only to fall victim now that I am retired. I suspect playing a lot of No Man’s Sky may be responsible. All that mouse activity. (This from my mobile phone, one fingered)

  3. Sorry to hear this. I’d recommend switching to a trackball mouse. I made the switch some years ago and it’s definitely an improvement! Less movement of the wrist.

  4. IMHO, you NEVER need to apologize for any break in your voluminous postings. You deserve to heal, and we will be patient, awaiting your wisdom. I’m not a Christian, but as I recall from a book called Genesis, even God needed a break 🙂

  5. Lol! That’s very kind – thank you.

The trouble is that I keep seeing stuff that I want to write about… and then, punishment.

  6. I suppose this would be a great time to experiment with text to speech, except that you can’t use the mouse.

I have used a mouse with my non-dominant hand before, but it is confusing.

You could do a memory palace. Ars memoriae is cool.

  7. It does seem to be the mouse mainly. I tried using it left-handed but it is confusing.

It’s going to be a period of adjustment.

  8. You are very kind. It’s a heck of a thing to happen. It’s a reminder that everything we are and have hangs by a thread. We live at the edge. The merest touch can change our life.

  9. Suburbanbanshee had a great suggestion. I have a pair of Logitech H800 headphones, and when I hook up any of my computers to Bluetooth, I can speak into the microphone and the copy will write itself out as I speak. First I place the cursor in the document and press Win+H. Or, with just a microphone, Win+H works.

This leaves only editing, which is of course mouse utilization.
