I’ve been posting translations of the Annals of Eutychius of Alexandria, or Sa`id ibn Bitriq, (10th c. A.D.) for some time now. A kind correspondent has made a list of all the posts in which these translations appear, and I give this below. The chunks are of no particular size, and are just as long as I felt like doing at the time. (This is, of course, the only possible way to tackle so long a work.)
The translation is not made from the Arabic. It is made by running the Italian translation through Google Translate and smartening up the result. Accuracy is not guaranteed! The numbers in particular are a bit dodgy.
Update 7th May 2019 – this is now complete and awaiting revision. I see that I started with chapter 8 on 21 November 2014. It’s taken five years to do this. I also see that one chapter I abbreviated – I will look at this again.
Update 30 March 2024 – I have now produced a file containing the whole translation, with the help of “Albocicade” who kindly downloaded the lot and created 104 Word files. 01 May 2024 – I have revised the preface and chapter 1.
