This text consists of a number of wisdom sayings, attributed to Menander the Sage. There is no clear connection to a parallel collection of sayings in Greek. Nevertheless it is usually thought that the work must be a translation of some Greek text, and that the work was originally written in the early Roman period, perhaps in Egypt. The text shows a few signs of Jewish influence, and no sign of Christian teaching. == Bibliography == * T. Baarda, in J.H.
