Khamis bar Qardahe

Khamis bar Qardahe (or Kardahe) was an East Syriac/Nestorian writer of the late 13th or early 14th century. He was a priest in Arbela. He wrote many poems, both religious and secular. Among these were a supplement to the poem by Barhebraeus "On Wisdom." His liturgical poems are transmitted in a Nestorian service book, even today entitled the "Khamis", especially his 'Onyatha.'
He was a younger contemporary of Barhebraeus. Among the latters poems are some by Khamis, addressed to Daniel bar Khattab, with Daniel's reply, and one by Barhebraeus. (So Wright, p.281n.3: Payne Smith, Catal. p.377; Catal. Vat. iii.358).
