Elijah of Anbar

Jump to navigationJump to searchElijah of Anbar was an East Syriac writer who flourished in the first half of the 10th century.[1]
He was bishop of Anbar (=Peroz Shabur) and author of an extensive work in verse entitled Ktaba d-durrasha (Book of Instruction), or Book of Centuries. The work was in three parts, consisting of 10 memre in all. A German translation exists of part 1. The content could be described as gnomic and is strongly influenced by the works of ps.Dionysius the Areopagite.
