Fonts
Web pages using unicode fonts are not different to pages using pre-unicode fonts. In both cases you need to ensure that you have the right fonts installed. Different unicode fonts include different symbols. Few include Syriac, for instance. (The only difference is that you can set your browser to use a unicode font by default, which may then work).
If a page on this site uses unicode fonts for Greek, you must have one of the following fonts: Palatino Linotype (free with Windows XP), Titus Cyberbit Basic (available for free download from here), Aisa Unicode, Arial Unicode MS (free with Microsoft Office), Cardo, or Microsoft Sans Serif.
Greek, Hebrew and Syriac TTF fonts are used in some pages in this site. I have tended to use the "Scholar's Press" fonts by Jimmy Adair, especially SpIonic. I used to refer to the author's page, but the link I used moved. So, reluctantly, here is a mirror of the fonts, which are available in both Mac and Windows flavours.
I have also copied the author's introduction.
Keyboard mappings: This indicates what key you must press to get what character when typing in this font.
